SMCA Mental Health Round

The SMCA is proud to introduce an important new initiative this season, taking place on Saturday, 6 December, to help raise awareness of mental health within our cricketing community.

Mental health affects people of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life, and its importance cannot be overstated.  As an Association, we believe it is essential that we continue to recognise, support, and promote positive mental health for everyone involved in our game; players, coaches, volunteers, families, and supporters.

As part of this initiative, the SMCA has produced a set of Mental Health Blue stumps, which will be used across our 26 member clubs to show collective support for this important cause.  Each set has been covered in mental-health blue and professionally lacquered to ensure they can be reused each season.

Over the next couple of weeks, Mental Health Blue stump sets will be distributed to all member clubs.  If your club has not received its set by Saturday, 22 November, please contact Mario Baeli on 0411 289 136 to arrange collection.

We strongly encourage all clubs to participate by using these special stumps during their matches on 6 December.  Your involvement will help highlight the importance of mental health awareness and reinforce the support of our cricket community.

Along with this communication, I have attached a survey (see seperate news item) that I kindly ask each member club to complete and return by Friday, 28 November via secretary@smcacricket.com.au.  Your feedback is important in highlighting the affects of mental health around our Association.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping the SMCA champion such an important message.  Together, we can continue to foster a safe, supportive, and connected environment for all.

Kind regards,

Pete Anderson

SMCA President
