Club:

Maddington

Advocate's name:

PENALTY

Report:

1. When bowler Richardson bowled his second waist height no ball of the innings, the umpire (Michael Phillis) told the Captain that Richardson had to be removed from the attack. The bowler and the Captain then argued the point. 2. After a waist height no ball call in the last over, the Captain again disagreed strongly with the call and again clearly dissented. He left his position in the field and walked towards the umpire.

Tribunal notes:

Noted: Prior to the meeting starting Maddington raised questions as to whether the correct procedure for reporting had been followed. Convenor cleared up the matter to the satisfaction of Maddington. The panel heard from Paul Speering, who had made the report regarding comments made by D. Plummer to the umpire in both instances. Plummer conceded there were words, but that a number of others in the vicinity were responsible for these words. It was disappointing the umpire was not present or able to be contacted by phone to clarify matters of the report. Following discussion by the panel members it was felt although there obviously had been an issue without verification by the umpire as to his intentions and his confirmation of the events it was not possible to find Plummer guilty be reason of benefit of doubt.

Penalty:

D.Plummer found not guilty on both cases - He was reminded of his responsibility as the captain to control his players and encourage them to refrain from making comments to the umpire.
